In partnership with Trinet, the school provides benefit-eligible employees with employer-paid Short Term Disability (STD) benefits. Under STD, the carrier will provide 50% of an employee’s weekly earnings (up to a weekly maximum) if he/she becomes disabled. This includes illnesses, injuries, and pregnancy. Launch believes providing STD benefits allows employees the peace of mind they need to focus on getting better and returning to work.
To verify eligibility, your doctor will need to assist you with the medical certification of your disability claim. Employees may elect to supplement STD benefits with their unused paid time off. STD has seven (7) business day unpaid waiting period(s) unless the beginning of an employee’s STD leave. Launch will pay 100% of their wages during the carriers’ waiting period. Short-term disability (STD) benefits will replace 50% of your pay, up to a maximum amount determined by your salary. To help you understand your weekly STD benefit and maximum, visit your Trinet account and use their online calculator. STD benefits are available for up to twenty-five (25) weeks.
Employees must notify the Senior Director of Finance at cschlafer@launchschool.org as soon as possible about an upcoming disability.
